WHSSeminarsWorkers Compensation Review

“The State Finance Minister has called for a reform of the Workers Compensation Scheme and announced a parliamentary enquiry into the Scheme. The Scheme is currently in significant deficit (more than $4 billion). Without any reform, the Government has indicated an increase in premium of up to 28% per year will be warranted. A number of reform options are being proposed in an Issues Paper released by the Government. NSW Farmers supports the call for reform of the Scheme and opposes any premium increase. Members have up until the 17th May to make a submission to the government on the running of the scheme and we strongly encourage members, as well as the  general public, to do this, especially if they have particular experiences with deficiencies in the current scheme. To assist in this process, NSW Farmers have developed a submission building tool, a link to which can be found below. In addition, NSW Farmers will be submitting a response on behalf of all members. To do this, we need feedback on your experiences with the workers compensation scheme. To gather this feedback we have developed a short survey that we encourage all members to provide feedback on.

  • Click here to complete our survey on your experiences with workers compensation in NSW.
  • Click here to make a submission to the NSW Government on the workers compensation scheme review, using our submission builder template.

YOUR SAY - Beef 2015 & Beyond

In consultation with State Farmer Organisations and cattle producers, the Cattle Council of Australia is developing “Beef 2015 and Beyond” which will become the beef industry’s strategic plan.  Beef 2015 and Beyond will identify industry priorities for the future and how the industry can best invest in meeting the demands of these priorities; as well as assisting in providing clarity to the roles and responsibilities of the various industry bodies that service representation of the grass fed cattle industry to ensure outcomes for cattle producers.

All members who are part of the beef industry are encouraged to visit www.cattlecouncil.com.au to have a say in the future of the beef industry.
